The Honest Kitchen Dehydrated Raw Diet
When it came to finding healthy dog food, it seemed like the impossible. During the pet food recall, we decided to move away from feeding a kibble-based diet. After researching BARF or raw food diets, those options seemed daunting.
And then... we found The Honest Kitchen. (Hank eats Force, Earl eats Verve and Gita alternately eats a mix of half Embark and half Force and then half Thrive and half Force.)

For a number of reasons, we don't feed rawhides, pig ears, beef hooves, bully sticks, greenies, etc. in our house. (Dried beef tracheas, which are rich in chondroitin and very digestible, are the exception and a rare treat.) Again, the search was frustrating for a healthy, rawhide-like chew.
And then... we found Sam’s Yams™.
In foraging for genuinely healthy treats for the pups, sadly, we were resigned to choosing the treat with the least number of bad ingredients. There are plenty of 'healthy' 'organic' 'all natural' treats out there, but look at the ingredients closely; print this shopping list of ingredients from the folks at The Honest Kitchen and compare your dog's food and treats ingredients. It's eye-opening. And then... we found Barkwheats. (It is not an especially proud moment when you're contemplating stealing your pup's treats, but we do. And we have. And they're fabulous! We've even thought of dipping them in chocolate and serving them to our two-legged guests! We wish we were kidding, but we're not. ssshh. )
For those rare chew treats, we choose the very digestible, chondroitin-rich Bravo! brand dried beef tracheas.
